Dead Lakes

Panhandle Florida

Photographic Story.  Located in the heart of the Florida Panhandle, Dead Lakes was formed when sand bars created by water flowing from the Apalachicola was blocked up by the Chipola River, which flooded the forests and created a lake within the trees. The high flood waters killed many of the trees, but left one of the most beautiful rivers of the Florida Panhandles, along with a thriving ecosystem for plants, trees, and wildlife.  As part of my ongoing documentary series, Florida 67, I photographed this landscape while chasing thunderstorms across the Panhandle.  This image was honored with the $3500 Mayor’s Award at the 2014 Gasparilla Art Festival.  You can view my blogpost story here about when this photo was captured.

Ultra High Definition Images.  Richard captures his color images using either large-format Fuji Velvia slide film or multi-stitch digital techniques to create photos up to 150 megapixels.  This allows the artist to specialize in mural-size artwork for your home or office in several print formats.

Limited Edition Fiber Prints.  Images are printed by the artist on the finest museum grade fiber-rag paper.  These prints have vibrant colors, sharp detail, and a soft reflection.  When mounted under UV glass, no fading or change in image quality will be noticed for 200+ years.  Fiber prints are the best option for the most demanding of fine-art collectors who want a classic framed presentation.  The process is performed in-house by the artist.

Gallery Canvas Wraps.  Ready-to-Hang Gicleé canvas wraps create a contemporary, yet timeless artistic presentation.  Museum-grade cotton canvas is double-coated with a flexible UV protective layer, which give deep colors with a satin reflection.  Canvas is then stretched over 1.5″ tall wood bars and wired in the back.  The artwork will be fade resistant for 100 years.  For very large sizes, the canvas is offered ‘rolled up’ for stretching at your local frame shop.  The process is performed in-house by the artist.

Metal Prints – NEW!  After many requests, we now offer images printed on aluminum.  This is the latest trend in the photography world, with dyes infused onto a white coated aluminum surface.  The prints have luminescent colors, dark blacks, and a glossy surface for an ultra-modern look.  Choose between float mount, edge mount, or loose print.  Loose mounts are for collectors that want to insert the print into a traditional frame, whereas float and edge mounts are for a frameless presentation.  Metal prints are made by a lab under close supervision; prints are inspected and approved by the artist before delivery.
