Loggerhead Key, Dry Tortugas Florida

This image of Loggerhead Lighthouse in Dry Tortugas National Park is a followup image to Watcher of Paradise – but captured from the opposite side of Loggerhead Key.  The waves and surf can be quite strong on this side of the island, which protects the delicate reefs on the west end.  I kayaked several miles across the open ocean and arrived to beautiful clouds on a calm summer day.  This place is truly special – the best parts of Old Florida and the Caribbean combine to create the feeling of paradise lost.  This old wood dock creates a pathway that’s makes you want to just walk right into the photograph.  By popular demand, here is a cropped version of this image.
